Default Rear end noise from bad to WORSE! SOLVED ( for real this time! )

Hi guys,

some of you saw my previous post on this a day ago. Well now the noise is so loud I cant drive the car. Its horrible... I put the rear end on jack stands and made this video. It doesn't sound like the diff, I put my damn ear to it and it seems to be coming from somewhere else..

Are you sure the sound isnt coming from the tranny area? could be a broken clutch spring.

your vid sounds similar to this one on youtube. Some are saying blown diff, others are saying pinion teeth are chipped.

Some people experiencing this noise are saying it could be that you blew a gear and the metal shavings are bouncing around in the transmission.. We gotta narrow it down a bit through everyone's expertise and knowledge on this forum//

Thanks guys... the car is stock and I take super good care of it. Sometimes I think its the tranny area, other times the rear... I spoke to Billman he wants to to see if there is any up or down play in the drive shaft... going to jack the car back up now and see. It sounds like a knocking sound..

The tranny shifts fine and I replaced the fluid about 4K miles ago with GMSMFT which many others use here. The car shifts beautifully so I cant see how its the tranny yet...

Yeah Billman is probably the go-to guy to discuss this with. I'm just trying to find some more info out for you and I'll post back later.
