ok, sorry. Not trying to burst your dream bubble.
In my opinion, it gonna be hard to please everyone.

However, from an exposure standpoint I would consider the upper part of Manhattan, near the bridges. Or, just over the bridges, into NY state or NJ.
Expensive yes, but you have exposure to the entire island of manhattan, long island, new jersey, connecticut, and staten island. 2+ Hours for Philadelphia.
Very high population density in that region.

Getting to that part of NYC is the easiest, compared to midtown or downtown.
Long island is a huge pain in the ass when it comes to traffic.
And any other place would be too isolated, inside NJ or CT.

Consider this: If I wanted to take my car to the best S2000 car mechanic in the world (Billman rules), then I can only do so during the weekend, or some freak holiday when Bill wants to work. Otherwise Long island is just too far for me. And I can forget about driving there after work during rush hour. YIKES.

Traffic is a problem around here. That's all.
