Been to both. Cape Cod will be a little more relaxed but there's more to do in Myrtle Beach however you pay the price with traffic and crowds.

I've been to Myrtle Beach. If you're looking for action and people, it's the place to be. Lots of traffic on the main drag. Tons of shops and more Miniture Golf places than you can count! (don't ask me why lol).

If you're looking for a more quiet, secluded beach---try Pawley's Island, just a few miles south of Myrtle Beach. I rented a house on the island. It's beautiful and very family friendly. Lots of shells and wildlife in the water. We saw dolphins and stingrays. The water is warm, like bath water.
Downside: you have to drive to any stores or restaurants. The island has not commercial buildings on it at all. Personally, I liked that aspect.

I haven't been to Cape Cod, but I would imagine the water would be much cooler.
