It depends how many people show up. Silly me, I posted on about 10 different forums, but if there are not many people (as tends to be the case on Sundays), you will get 8-9 runs.

We had 9 timed runs Sunday.

We also had to work two heats which is unusual but it's not so bad.

3 runs in each heat is kind of crappy and I sure hope we get more than that.

EDIT: I am also a BMWCCA member

I'll look for my helmet. Don't loaner helmets get a little, um..."damp" in hot weather?

They don't... lol

You take one and you use it.

If it really bothers you, wear a headsock, or just invest in a crappy ski helmet

One good question... do they keep the course clean?

Because the Auto-X course that Englishtown sets up has gravel all over the place which really sucks for traction and you also get to hear all the lovely pebbles bouncing off your car while you concentrate on the course.

It's not bad. One time there was some broken glass on there, but they send guys out to sweep occasionally.

Damn, my helmet is in storage somewhere but I think I'm gonna try to make this one. It's been too long since I last autox'ed and I want to get back into it. Do you know the closest gas station nearby for me to pump up my tire pressure?

If you like to autocross it is worth it. I used to be a member of the NNJR Porsche Club when I owned my 924S and went to many autocrosses.

You do need a helmet and they have loaners, but if you are planning on doing it a few times, then buy a helment they are quite inexpensive now. There are more brands.

When I first bought my helpmet there was only Bell and Simpson and a full face cost about $200 now you can find quite a few for under that amount.

You don't have to use duct tape for numbers. White shoe polish works well on the windows and there is always someone with that. Or you can bring some magnetic numbers to put on your door.

Bring sunscreen and or a hat because you will also be asked to help as a cone worker or flagger.

If you are using street tires that have softer sidewalls you might want to add more air, or bring a small pump too. A folding chair is also a good idea so that you can enjoy the meadowlands "tar beach."

Cheers

Chris

If you are coming from the city, Lincoln Tunnel direction, there's a Hess gas station on route 3, before you get to the Meadowlands. But you have to take the Secaucus service road to reach it. All Hess gas stations have free air pump.
