I ran all-seasons for one winter and then switched over to a Snow/Winter wheel setup and Summer tire for the rest of the year. The amount of grip I got from a snow tire with some weight in the trunk was far better than anything I could get from a flawed All-season. This might not be ideal for you if you don't have a place to store the snow tires during the rest of the year. I'd say either Star Specs or RS3 are my favorite summer tires, with Star Specs having more wet traction while the RS3 has more dry stick.

no prob...

i was more referring to the incessant ignorant ricers who have no clue about driving and automatically think an s2000 can't be driven in inclement weather, yet countless people drive mustangs, camaros, benzes, bmws, etc., etc...

lol

In for vids! I can't tell you how many BMW X5's (for example) I've seen stuck in the snow over the years because they are spec'd with super wide, dry-oriented tires yet the owners think they're driving a badass SUV. One time at Mt. Snow in VT, stuck X5, I pulled right out in my wife's Accord with all seasons (up hill).

I vote for StarSpec as well as summer-only tire. Best bang for the buck. You will be fine on Continental DWS if you absolutely have to do all-season tire. It will get you through light snow.

people who drive an s2000 in the winter with summer tires might as well play basketball/football/baseball/tennis/etc with bowling shoes.

Exactly. I love the star specs and for summer they are my #1 choice. However even though they work great cold (as in the tire grips when cold not in cold weather) it looses grip in late fall and winter months. I experienced it first hand a few times.

Currently, I got a set of Conti DWS and they are amazing!! I auto-x'd in the wet with them, drove in light snow (moderate to low speeds of course) and 25min run at NJMP track in summer. Amazing all weather traction.

My ideal NYC setup would be Star specs spring/summer and Conti dwss winter/fall. If I had to go with only one set. Conti DWS is the winner.

Star specs for the rest. Good luck getting them right now....
You need to drive on some Conti DWS. Although dedicated snow tires are great, which I had on that crazy hard winter a few years back, The DWS handle just slightly below that standard. They really are a great tire. To bad I won't be around this winter to prove it.
