Default NY cracking down on illegal tint

watch out folks, my wife got a ticket for 50% tint on the RL this morning. Officer stated that there was a directive from Albany to crack down on tint. Didnt think that tint was a "pull-overable" offence.

With that said, anyone know how much this ticket is? $75? With the ticket he gave her a sheet stating that she must show up at a inspection station to verify that the tint has been removed or our registration will be revoked. Do we really have to do this? I'd rather just pay the fine and keep the tint on.

I am not sure about the fine but if you need help taking the tint off, I can help. I did mine a few weeks back.

I got a tint ticket once and I brought the car to the precinct building with the tints removed and they dismissed the ticket.

I'd guess the registration revocation is probably legit since he gave you a print-out of the warning.

But at least if you are forced to remove the tint, maybe you can save $$$ by bringing it to the precinct.

This has been pull overable since I was 17 and started driving. Reality is tint that dark is dangerous.... even limos cant have tint on the windows used by the drivers that is darker then 35%.

Threadstarter has 50%. That means 50% of light from the outside can get in. So a lower percentage is darker.

I have like 10% on my subaru in the rear but nothing in the front, only got pulled over once for it because my windows were down. Cop told me to raise the window, I did, he said ok and left.
