Hey all,

I have been on this board for a while now and I have a situation that I am facing.

I currently own a 00 s2k and I also have a 03 wrx with 100k miles on the clock.

Recently, I was debating whether I should trade the 2 cars in for a lower mileage car.

I found this 2004 Audi a4 3.0 6sp with low mileage 30k or so and I went to test drive it yesterday. Initially, I thought the car was not as fun to drive as neither car but I wanted a more mature vehicle while still some what fun to drive (think I am getting old).

Another reason I wanted to trade up is because I dont want to pay 2 insurances every month and am afraid that the wrx will need to be fixed soon.

But on the other hand, I have heard some high repair costs for audis and this is my main concern.

Do you guys have any experience with audis or have any stories to share? I have checked other audi boards but most said that it will last if you maintain it...but since its an audi forum, they may tend to favor their cars.

i heard audis arent the greatest.

i would sell both cars and get into a lexus IS 350

 

I suggest you check with any mechanics on the boards...
they will be able to tell you which cars are in the shop more than others.

For instance, my son's mechanic says VW's and Mercedes are in the shop very frequently and suggests not to purchase one.

Of course this would be a barometer of older vehicles; no longer under warrantee.

Stop right there. S2000 and the WRX for an Audi? Come on man. You gotta come to your senses here. You are used to cars with speed and handling. You are NOT gonna be happy with an A4.

 

FWIW, my father has an '06 WRX wagon with just about 100k miles on it and it's still going strong.

On the other hand, it is pretty much stock, though.

 

German repairs are $!
Also it sounds like you're trading in all your fun.

 

If you like taking your car to mechanics and being a frustrated owner....Audi all the way.

 

from an audi and VW owner out of warranty, run far away...
