Need Help!
Sups guys.... I sold a car 3 years back,, turned in the plates to dmv, but never put in a bill of sales to the customer and now i recieved a fine from the Sanitation Dept. of New York to my name saying that I abandoned the vehicle that i dont even own anymore.... what should i do... Please chime in...

You shouldn't be liable if you signed the title and it was given to dmv. If the guy never registered the car and you don't have the title, then you probably still liable for the car unless you can find the guy you sold it 2.

Do you have the recp from the DMV when you turned in the plates? That might help you.
you need to check with the dmv to see if the car was ever registered after you sold it, or if the signed title was given to the dmv to issue a new title.
thats my only suggestion and hopefully it should work.

in order to register the car at the DMV the new owner has to hand in the old title to receive a new one...
