Need advice on what to do for a UPS item
So i bought a cell phone from a seller in Canada. He used Purolator (never heard of them, but i'm guessing its a Canadian shipping service), and when the cell phone arrived in NJ, it was dropped off to UPS to be delivered.
I never got the item, but UPS insists it was delivered to me. Everyone was home and no one heard the UPS truck or anyone ring the doorbell. No signature confirmation.
So the seller started an investigation with Purolator, and they just called me today insisting that UPS dropped it off, and I just kept telling her no it was not.
So anyone have any advice on what I should do now? The phone WAS insured for around $600. Used paypal to send. Anyone know whats going to eventually happen?
What sucks even more with UPS was this is the second straight screw up that UPS has ####ed me over with. They ended up losing/damaging a almost $2000 transmission...
Thanks Mike

Like Anuj said ask who signed for it. There is no way a package with $600 value didn't require a signature. UPS is known for not paying claims and that is why we will never use them.

You've tried the easy way, via phone. Sounds like UPS might be passing the buck...who knows.
Write the seller a detailed e-mail and explain that the phone was not received. Ask that he start an investigation/claim with Purolator. I recall it is the sender, not the receiver, who files the insurance claim. Ask the seller to copy you on all correspondence.
File a claim with PayPal, although I wouldn't expect much from them.
Hopefully you used your credit card to fund the transaction, I would also file a claim with them. This might be your easiest route.
I think your success will be dependent on your seller working with Purolator. UPS is a sub-contract on the job and really has no skin-in-the-game.
