That's crazy. I'm glad he made it back home, apparently a little smarter then you think.

Maybe you need a new sign for the gate...

WTF is right!! But this is not the first time I hear something like this. My coworker who lives somewhere out in suffoulk had her dog stolen TWICE! There are dog thieves believe it or not. Especially if they are nice friendly dogs. Either way .. I am glad he found his way back. Maybe smarter than you think... Dogs FTW!

^True. I have a new found respect for him. Damn, I don't know how he found his way home. He has NEVER seen the roads anywhere past my block.

lojack him. Any chance he escaped and someone put rope around him, as a leash, and brought him back?
My front door was open, if someone brought him back they could've easily knock on the door. But I just found him there waiting at the gate with no one around.

They have amazing sent and are super aware. No matter how clumsy and dumb we think they are.. they are amazing creatures.

Those 4 hours must have been torture.

I'd like to think he chewed off those ropes to get away and come home. If so, I have a superdog in my basement.

really though, they have chips you can put in a dog to locate them. My dog has one

My dogs do as well, but my understanding is that these chips help only once the dog is found. So if your dog turns up upstate and they scan him and find that he belongs to you, they can return him properly.

Ray, I would have been going crazy if this was one of my dogs. It's awesome that he came back. It's funny, dogs don't really perceive the world using sight like we do - they primarily use scent to find their way around. Dogs are just cool.

isn't that only if the dog is found stray and taken to a shelter, and they scan him for the chip? i'm pretty sure they don't have an active locator on them though but i can be wrong..
