been looking around lately my miata is obviously still in project form. the last thing is needs is the timing needs to be adjusted but i dont have time to play with it anymore with school and work. how many people are really interested in project cars these days? is there still a market for them or is it mostly just modding these days.

Marketwise, I think the color adds to the equation.

There is a pretty good bucket of folks looking for stock unmolested miatas.

From personal experience, I collect only three colors: Mariner Blue, Laguna Blue and that deep Merlot red unless someone has a neat white one.

Regarding the market for project cars, there is always a market for it but it's never the market that you want to enter because these buyers are looking for a steal. Plus, these buyers have "stepped up" by trying to obtain stock ready-to-go miatas for the price of a project.

As long as the car is a project, it could be tough to move it at your bottom line price. Especially now that you can find tastefully modded FI miata's for under 4k.
