Insurance... Whos using what?

Currently Hanover, but I used Liberty Mutual for 15 years without issue.
As Mary stated, I would contact a few brokers/agents. Many rep multiple companies so they'll be doing the shopping for you.
However, it sounds like you are 'high-risk' which means you'll be paying big dollars wherever you go for coverage.

Great company, but they won't take you with points.

I had NJM for years they don't drop you for points or accidents. Unless your out of control, I don't know what your record is like Norm but your obviously a high risk. So I don't think it matters where you go its going to cost you.

And then drop you when you do eventually get one?
To give you an idea of rates, Geico wanted 1600 for 6 months when I checked prices last year. With the exact same coverage I pay 1100 a year with NJM.

Just went from Progressive to Allstate and got increased coverage and lower deductibles while lowering my monthly payment by 40 dollars a month. I will, however, be switching to NJM in October of next year when my last ticket, from two years ago, gives me a clean record. Definitely shop around and get a record of your accidents and tickets so you have an idea of your situation. Doing driving courses can help lower your rates as well.

Who do you have for homeowners/renters?
You might be able to save a few dollars by bundling your coverage.
I bundled my homeowners and auto with Hanover and saved money for multi-policy and multi-vehicle. Also signed up for an umbrella policy. More coverage for less money.

NJM was nearly 700 more a year for the same coverage liberty mutual is giving me. Now I have my own policy (not with my parents) and pay less for a much better car (wrx vs sti).
Def call whoever though, I apparently miss a lot of discounts doing it online...
