Default I almost hit a friggin deer!

I got out of work at 6 so i'm kinda rushing home cuz my 04 console came in. So i'm in the right lane of the saw mill pkwy south right when it becomes the henry hudson south and splits to the Mosholu pkwy.

Anyway, i see this figure cross the highway right in front of the minivan in the left lane. That dude slams on his brakes and honks his horn. All of a sudden the deer decides to double back to where he came from, right in my path. I hit the brakes, as this thing crosses the highway, jumps the barrier and back into the woods.

I wasn't going that fast, 55 at most, but this happened 25 feet in front of me. Close enough for me to count the spots on this thing's ass.

I did read an article a few years ago in the riverdale review about deer coming to Van Cortlandt Park, but i never would've figured that they'd make the Bronx their habitat. I guess it goes to show that it's not all that bad here if bambi and his family decided to relocate.

thank god i didn't hit the him. cuz if i did, i woulda ran home, got the jeep, and woulda had venison for dinner if that er messed up my S.

I'm not surprised that the deer are moving south. I'm North of Westchester and we have had 3 deer incidents with cars in my house. There are so many of them now. This is mating season so they are even more active now.

yeah man, further up the saw mill they're everywhere. on the sprain too.

up in Tarrytown, by the Marymount campus, they're grazing on someone's lawn all the time.

Had a similar discussion earlier today -- seems that new drivers on the north shore are driving off the roads into trees and getting hurt or killed to avoid hitting deers... Lloyd Neck has invited some archers up there to play Robin Hood in the wooded areas.

same shit happened to me going to bills. I had no place to swerve out because it was the exit ramp and if I did try to swerve I'd fall into a ditch . Definately a scary moment.

There's usually like 20-30 deer on the side of Sunrise hwy every night I pass that way. They're pretty much conditioned to stay on the side of the raod...
