Help with a Prelude
I was wondering if any knows if the car makes a weird sound when it reaches 3000 rpm, what could it be, the check engine light is also on, could the 2 be related?

What year prelude is it? Is it like a tapping noise. I know that those H22 motor have to get their valves adjusted after time. They start tapping. My 98 Prelude used to do it at idle and on Accel. Got my valves adjusted and it fixed the problem. As for the check engine light you have to see what the code is.

I cant really explain it, its a weird noise that it makes when it passes 3000 rpm n the car loses a lil power. My friend is trying to buy this prelude. The guy who selling it said it was the o2 sensor that needs to b changed. It it costs around $2-300.

o2 sensors are like $50 on sparkplugs.com
Its hard to say what the noise could be, if the o2 sensor was the problem, there might me some misfiring, loss of power, and really bad gas mileage.
I guess the first thing I would do is check the check engine light and pull the codes.

If it sounds like a ticking or tapping noise, then the valves need adjusting. Most H22/H23's have this issue. You should hear it also at idle. Pop the hood and listen closely by the valve cover. I had the same issue awhile back.
