Hello my American friends!
Hi guys,
Messaging from the UK by the way.
My wife is getting a work transfer to your awsome country, hopefully New York City, so we will be looking to move quite soon! Can anyone help me with good suggestions on the best websites to look at in terms of buying an apartment.
There are so many to choose from if you Google search and I don't want to choose badly!
S2K's are so much cheaper over there too!!! Can't Wait!!!
Thanks you guys! From London!

These are the major brokerage firms in Manhattan. There are smaller ones but start from these three and see if you can find something you like. Working in Time Square is super convenient. You can live on the East Side, West Side, Downtown, wherever. If you have specific questions, feel free to pm me.
Oh yeah, most apartments in Manhattan are co-ops (something like 70%), meaning you don't actually own the real estate but shares in a corporation. Most of these co-ops require at least 20% down versus condos, which requires 10% down. In addition, the closing period could be long on these co-ops are you need to pass the co-op board. Some are tougher than others (esp ones on Central Park West, Fifth Ave, or Park Ave) and some even require interviews with your pets. Since it's tougher to buy co-ops, it's also tougher to sell, so keep this in mind.
Finally, parking is expensive here. I live on the Upper West Side and it's about $500/month.
Good luck, and welcome.
