has anyone had a problem that sounded like a rattling heat shield in a 2000 car? Because it turns out that honda has a service notice out that states that it is really a problem with the clutch.

I brought the car in to get it checked out and there was no problem with the heat shield, despite a sound that led me to believe there would be. Turns out its the clutch and it only needs to be replaced if you cant deal with the noise. After 2000, honda apparently fixed the problem and put in beefier springs.

Anyone else have this problem? Can any clarify this for me or share a similar experience?

A bunch of us with MY00 and MY01 had the TSB done to replace the clutch . After it was done the sound was gone.

i had the same problem, i have an 00s2k, i got the clutch replaced under warrenty..it sounds better but is still there, but less noisy..

I had mine replaced a year ago with the latest clutch disk and the noise is gone. Honda brought out several disks to fix this buzzing, but the only one that worked for any length of time is the last one. Mine was very annoying and loud.

I had mine done on MY 01 as well.
The noise went away and it shifted better into every gear thereafter. Do it if you need to .
