damn!!! i just learned about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags this past weekend in one of my networking classes...my professor who is an engineer at sun microsystems has been working heavily on this technology for the past 10 years...pretty much RFID tags are used to track anything...he explained that depending on what kind of tag is used...ie passive or active..it can tell almost anything about the surroundings of the tag....pretty scary if u ask me...the only thing is that you need a reader to scan the tags...im not sure if the govt has a reader than can detect from over 30 miles away yet...but if they do...holy hell...they can monitor everything...the future holds no privacy!!

Wal-mart is developing a microtransmitter for ultra-small inventory objects like nails, screws etc. They already use RFID tags on pallates of items in their inventory that is slated for inventory so they know exactly where everything is at all times.

"How small is ultra-small?" you may be wondering...

The ultra-small RFID tags that Wal-mart is producing will probably be applied using a squirt bottle.

How crazy is that.

The negative part about RFID tags is that if they are that small..they can be put on humans without consent...your wife will know where you are at all times!!! hahahahaahahahah

i know that they use RFID tags in govt officials out in Mexico..due to the kidnapping that happens over there

I'm working on RFID project right now. we just went live with it last fall. it is a pretty cool stuff. tag itself is pretty small but the antenna has to be large enough. our tag, which is 1x1, can be read from abour 6 feet away.

this is also embeded on to poker chips in casino to track how much you are betting at once.

Thanks for the clarification ... Jackie and I suspected the myth aspect when we read of the warm bills after microwaving.

haha....ah well..all a myth...but the RFID tags are a scary thought...as they can be developed small enough to be on a person or anything else without he/she knowing.....my professor brought in a RFID tag from his job at sun microsystems and it was 4x4mm
