Hey guys. I just got pulled tonite going 80 in a 50 on the LIE. Any advice??? Lawyers to help? How do points work here in NY because the ticket just states the fine of $90 and mentions nothing in the way of points. Also the ticket shows that I was speeding but there is no area as to how the cop got my speed (pace/radar/laser/ect). Need some help. I dont really mind paying the fine but I just dont want points. Thanks for your help. BTW I am from Florida so the car I was driving has FLorida plates and I have a FL liscense if that helps any. Dont know if points transfer between states.

Tell me where (county and approx exit number) you were on the LIE. Tell me the color of the ticket (yellow or pink ?). Tell me what address the ticket has on it to mail it in. Tell me how often you drive in NY ? And how many (if any) other tixs you have on your NY record already. After I have that info I can give you a cohesive answer to your questions.

I talked to Rob, who talked to an atty in Florida, who told him that the points WOULD transfer to Florida. I know this is NOT the case for New York, and had not previously heard that it was the case for Florida; but perhaps it is .

hmm interesting...because my friend got a ticket here in NY and he lives (and has his license) in georgia...he got 77 in a 55 on northern pkwy

his insurance company definitely found out....not sure about points though...

i guess if it were the other way around he would have been better off

That was the case with me and NJ. Apparently, most states transfer points FROM NY, to their own DMV, but NY does NOT tranfer points from other states.
