Default good header installer

I want to get some headers, 1st of all if I put these on will I have a problem with inspection/emmissions? If so, how can I get around that? I was looking at the Rick's header anyone have any info/opinion on these? Also, where is a good place to have them put on? One last question, do you need to have the car tuned after they are put on? I just want to know because I'm going to Englishtown w/ friends in February and we're renting out the track for the day so I want to do a little work before then. - thanks

No, you won't have any problems with passing emissions with a header. Bill could always hook you up with an install on a header, but it isn't that difficult if you can turn a wrench and have some tools and a few hours to spare. If you are installing the header to run better times at Englishtown then you are wasting your money IMO since you will lose a few lbs and gain a few whp if you are lucky. You would be better off installing a testpipe with a mechanical o2 sensor (so you don't trip a CEL) to get the same gains or more for much less money. Also, you won't need to get your car tuned for a header, but to get the maximum potential out of any parts you could. Then again, you would need something like an AEM EMS to actually get any more power out of it, if it was there to begin with. I am skeptical because I have still not seen a header make decent gains, aside from shedding off a few lbs compared to stock.

that's what I was thinking about the header (lot of money not that much gain) I still might do it either way.

Also, for the test-pipe, is there a big quality difference between different brands or are they all similar in performance? I know that I definately want one with the o2 sensor so I don't get any CEL light.

I have a test pipe I'll sell you. any make will give you the same gains but with mine you'll have to spend an extra $5 to rig the o2 sensor but I'll tell you how to do it. and if you're in NY you'll pass inspection with the test pipe as long as you rig the o2 sensor
