NEVER! I hate when people bring us stuff to install.
We did it. But the svc manager was NOT happy.

My friend owns a bodyshop and he got me a nice canvas top from cabrioworld. He can probably do the whole thing for $1k. If you want him to check let me know. Plus he's originally from Garfield.

His shop is about an hour upstate. It's Done-Rite Autobody in Eldred, NY. He has a house in Garfield and I know he's coming down this weekend to work on his house if you want to talk to him.

"someone we know got me in trouble b/c they wanted us to go his HOUSE and bring back his new tires he bought from somewhere else to mount and balance for him.
We did it. But the svc manager was NOT happy."
This was cleared up front with a service writer and there was hundreds of dollars of other work done in addition to the tires. You were not involved in this at all until the service departement tried to refuse to do exactly what had been prearranged. The dealer shuttle was going to my house anyway to take me home.
I thank you for your efforts in that regarad. You should not have gotten in any trouble, sounds like your service manager is an a-hole and the service writer that preapproved the tire thing is incompetent and the one who should have been in trouble.

And you're opinion on the service manager seems to agree with the general consensus here
