Friend missed a court date by accident in Suffolk - what are the consequences?
He was supposed to go in October 1 for his hearing but thought it was in November - the following is what I cut and paste from what he told me. I'm just the messenger

Holy Sh*t I totally forgot about my ticket court date!! I missed it :-(
For some reason I thought it was in Novemeber (turns out thats when the ticket was issued) so I checked it today, and it was 10/1!!!
The ticket was 90 in a 55, a mandatory court date here in NY. I have no prior blemishes on my record. What happens now that I missed it?? :-(
Am I a dead man? I'm gonna stop by the department tomorrow and see what the story is.

What kinda ramifications does this entail for him? Some jail time, car impounding, felony charge, all points bulletin ?? He's basically gonna make a trip to the Suffolk TVB in Hauppauge and explain to them that he honestly missed the date by accident, so we'll see what happens. Hope everything will be in kilter.

They'll probably throw him in cuffs since the judge issued a bench warrant when he didn't show.
Of course I have no idea really. If your friend had a clue, he would have hired an attorney for a ticket that could result in him losing his driving privileges. If I was him I'd do that now.

Send me a PM with details of what court in Suffolk ( TVB in Hauppauge, or some other court ?) and I will send you details.
If it is in TVB in Hauppauge he should be able to post a $40.00 bond, get the suspension lifted, and get a new date. TVB does not issue warrants.

i missed a court date
a few years ago in westchester
my license was suspended
and I had to pay $150 bond to get a new court date
they actually told me that my license wouldn't get suspended
but it was
my brother's a cop and he ran my license
it sucks cause it still shows on my driving record as a suspension to the insurance co.
