Maintenance or check engine light? If it's cel, don't drive it and pull the code. If it's maintenance light just reset it.

Is it a check engine light or maintenance light first thing?
They're two separate things. One is just a maintenance reminder to get your oil done the other shows actual issues with the engine and sensors.

from the manual for CEL....
"...Even though you may feel no difference in you car's performance, it can reduce fuel economy and cause your car to put out excessive emission. Continued operation may cause serious damage.
If you have recently refueled you car, the cause of this indicator coming on could be a loose or missing fuel fill cap. Check the cap and tighten it until it clicks several times, Replace the fuel fill cap if it is missing. Tightening the cap will not make the indicator turn off immediately; it takes three driving trips. (this would show up as code p1456 when scanned)
If the indicator remains on past three driving trips, (my experience it was longer-several days and more like 6 trips) or the fuel cap was not loose or missing, have the car checked by the dealer(not) as soon as possible. Drive moderately until the dealer(autozone) has inspected the problem. Avoid full-throttle acceleration and driving at high speed."
Basically alot of the codes have to do with the emissions control system, once you get the code post in "under the hood".
The warning light that you should absolutely stop right away and not drive is the oil pressure light, you get that, pull over, shut down and call a tow truck.
