About a month before my first lease was up, I was in the same boat.
I ordered new tires, and had them mounted (I have a second set of rims, which made it easy). The inspector came out, checked everything, signed the paperword, and all was fine.
I drove around on the new tires the last month and the day before I returned the car to the dealership, I put the bald tires back on.
Never heard a thing about it after that.

I deal with Honda leases, your tires only need to have tread on them. HOWEVER...most Honda leases have a $1500 wear and tear allowance, so as long as your car does not have any other damage, American Honda will forgive you for the tires.
