Bent Valve / Burnt Valve

Bent Valve / Burnt Valve
with a compression test it showed one of the cylinders got a 0 so they think burnt or bent valve. I just scheduled an appointment with DCH Honda of Paramus to have it looked at in more detail. I'm hoping it's covered under the extended warranty. My uncle is going to talk to them, he works for DCH Volvo so I dunno.
BUT if it isn't covered under the warranty is it better to fix it or just replace the engine entirely?
Honda of Rt. 23 quoted me 6k.
6k?!?!?!
On another note does anyone have one of those J's racing tow hooks for sale?

They will charge you a grand for teardown, it won't be covered, and you'll be back to square one. Be ready to shell out a lot of money for nothing. Or if you want to wait till spring, I'll fix it.

for 6 grand, I'll put a brand new 2003 spec motor in it. And you'll get money back.
All they need to do is pull the head, repair the valve damage, and put it back together. What the hell could possibly cost 6K? Retail on the head with valves is under 2k. They want 4000 in labor?
Did they pull the valve cover? an adjuster could have walked down and took up the clearance, leaving the valve open.
Find someone with half a brain and at least get a fair diagnosis.

Is the CEL on ??
And I agree with Bill, I've been down this road already Ray. They will charge
you to tear it down and then if they feel its not a warranty issue they will
say you over reved it. And you'll be stuck with them doing the work.
I speak from experience if I was you I would just let Bill do it.

Dylan, i'm sorry to hear this happened to you, but maybe you can turn this negative into a positive. I'm not sure if you have another car to drive until the Spring when Bill said he could fix your car, but I think I remember reading a post of yours about going Forced Induction. Maybe you should take this time and order a new, built bottom end if you are going to tear down the motor anyway to fix the problem. If I were you I would build a block and it would be ready by the time bill could install it for you and fix your head. Just an idea for you if you wanted to go FI anyway, then you could build a real beast with work that you need to do anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yeah he probably could do all that and still be under 6000 bux
Even if he went and got a complete top end it would be like 3000 bux
for that. that would leave him another 3000 bux for some goodies
