Default Anyone interested in trying kart racing?

How about we put together a team to try this? I have heard it is great fun from friends that do it.
Metro NY s2ki (open to anyone to join us) is looking to form a karting team...or two...or three to compete in the Northeast Start Racing Kart Endurance Challenge in a 4 hour race on the evening of Saturday April 27 AND/OR an 8 hour race on Sunday April 28. Although no experience is necessary there will be a school the morning of the 27th for those interested covering such topics as:

- safety procedures
- flags, signals, the kart
- racing line
- braking techniques
- passing techniques

As an added incentive this 2 day event also has something for the family: On the afternoon of Saturday 4/27 there will be a program open to family members of the drivers of either the 4 hour or 8 hour enduro. Drivers will be grouped according to age and gender (kids & spouses). It will be a combination of lapping sessions and sprint races.

This event will take place at Oakland Valley Race Park (the premier karting facility in the northeast) in Cuddebackville, just north of Port Jervis (http://www.ovrp.com).

For more details or questions contact Kevin Clifford kevincee@aol.com or DINO Karts http://www.dinouse.com (when I tried this link was dead).

What do you think? I know the local porsche club will be there.

This is an "arrive and drive" event right?
If so, count me in for the 27, possibly 28th depending on the group we can get together

For once, something in the "western" part of our region

So it sounds like the absolute maximum cost would be $775 for saturday if you did everything and only had 2 people on a team

Minimum $237.50 if you just showed up for the 4 hr race as part of a 4-man team.

Something in the middle (cost-wise) sounds about right. That won't break the bank.

Josh,
I am waiting for everyone to respond. If we can get a full team for both days it comes out to about $17x per event. (taking the price and dividing by 12 people -4 for 4 hour and 8 for 12 hour) with the free kart for spouses and kids that attend. I would at least like to try Saturday school in morning and race. a full team of this would qualify for a free kart for spouses and kids during the family run.
