well i got 100% of my money back for the iPhone at least!
it actually was a 5 month process to get the iphone (wanted it in june/july but decided to wait) and finally bit the bullet in december, only to give it back
the full race stuff was pretty impulsive though

i did ask the att rep when i called to cancel and the apple store saleswoman about how often people return the iphone.. both said of those who return the iphone, it is for two reasons:
mostly - 1) didn't like the quality of att's service - i had no problem with it, it was pretty comparable to verizon and the 3G data was especially quick
minority - 2) didn't like the iphone.. of this small portion, they both said the majority were previously blackberry owners
