Jon: I fail to see how me driving spiritedly on the Dragon (while cautioning myself and everyone to drive within their own limits, and that it's not a race to see who's faster) is the same as encouraging someone to drive fast and hard in a competition. If you can't see the difference (or just refuse, for the sake of argument, to make the distinction) then we have nothing further to discuss. Driving spiritedly =/= street racing.
When you argue that you are staying within "your own limits", are you implying the limits defined by the administration (the speed limits and traffic rules) or your own preconceived notion? To say that you stayed within your own limits does not mean that you stayed within the speed limits and didn't act recklessly. People say they drive in their own limits all the time, I'm sure the guys who street raced thought they were within their own limits, until one guy lost control. Talk to all the people that have crashed on the dragon and ask them if they were driving within their 'limits', I'm sure you'd hear similar responses. For you to say that 'driving spiritedly' on very technical back roads (not on a track) is not competition, but people racing in a a straight line is, comes across as being hypocritical.
The difference i see between the two is not the danger, immaturity levels or competition, but one defines being faster in a straight line, while the other, how quickly one can get around turns. Each has their own camp and warped sense of reality. Both camps also have ways of making their competition less dangerous and legal.

At no point in time did I encourage anyone to drive outside their limits, nor did I encourage anyone to engage in competitive driving where he/she might be encouraged to drive outside their own limits.

If that's the same as street racing, only around curves, then you're right.
