Jonathan's Turbo S2000 launches from Earth on a 20 year mission on which he travels at a velocity of 0.9c (c represents the speed of light, so this means travelling at 90% of the speed of light). Given it is known that at this speed time slows by about 50%, upon returning at the end of the mission 20 years have passed on Earth but Jonathan will only have aged 10 years!

hiren went to texas on Friday, stayed 2 days, and came back Wednesday..

how is this POSSIBLE?!!?
easy. You stayed for 2 days in Texas (Fri and Sat). You drove home. According to google maps it takes 24 hours to get from Dallas to Clifton. You averaged 6 hrs per day driving thus taking you 4 days to return (Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed).

...and I'm not going to WTD this year, am I...

Again, not saying that I'm not guilty of driving spiritedly. But I guess once you've driven spiritedly on the Dragon once, you can't talk negative of anything street-racing related ever again...

EDIT: Now, if we're done with the ad-hoc attacks based my driving record, can we get back to the real issue here?

If you decide to street race, then you are responsible if something happens - as Dev posted.
i never argued that the guy wasn't responsible for his actions. I think he is definitely responsible, especially considering he was also under the influence. I just have an issue with people being hypocrites.

you would have to hit a wormhole to only age 10 years in a 20 year span! or travel faster than the speed of light?

dev, bust out the excel spreadsheet, lets get REAL numbers on this one.

Time Dilation son!

"To restate the reason for this: in the astronaut's frame of reference the time relative to Earth's frame has slowed by 50% due to the effects of time dilation, so only 10 years have passed for the astronaut. This does not mean the astronaut is living longer, their time has only slowed relative to other people's frames, within their own frame time passes normally, so they will still only live their normal lifespan. Indeed they would not even realise time had dilated until they returned home and saw people much older."

My only question would be if Andy's friend knew that the cop was turning around to pull him over and if so, what Andy's friend did in response.

I apologize if I incorrectly assumed that Andy's friend saw the cop turning around and continued to drive fast.
back on topic...

He never saw the cop or knew he was coming after him, after the cop wrecked there was an all out hunt for a blue '69 Camaro, my bud saw the cop put the brakes on and assumed he turned around but never saw him. he never tried to lose him or engage the cop in a chase.

to me the cop was just doing his job and screwed up because his driving skills weren't up to the task at hand... Not that much different than the Ferrari driver...

the law is the law, nobody is arguing the definition of manslaughter just that we live in a society where noone it seems is responcible for thier own actions, it's always someone elses fault.

No one has ever forced me to do anything crazy in my car, whatever i do i do at my own will and someplace in the back of my mind i know that i am responcible for whatever happens...
