What to do in Abq? (tourist, sort of)
Hey Gang:
I have a business trip to Albuquerque next week to inspect a real estate property. Since I'm only sticking around for one day (plus one night), I don't have much free time. Just wondering what's a good place to hang out between 5pm and bed time. Any suggestions? I browsed through a couple of websites but didn't see anything that's particularly more interesting than the others. I was thinking going to Old Town and then just sit at the bar of a decent place and have dinner and then walk around. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
-Mike

Well, it depends on what area of town you're in and if you're gonna be walking or driving around. There is a pretty decent bar scene downtown... maloneys, distillery, sauce, the library....etc. Let me know what your situation is and I'll point ya in the right direction. BTW, if you're looking for real estate property out here, I'm an agent... send some business my way so I can buy some more stuff for the S2K...

Thanks Brandon:
I'll be on the northeast section of the town and staying at one of the Marriots (North Pyramid I think). I can either walk around or drive around. Not really looking to drink hard because unfortunately I'll be by myself. Just want a good place to have dinner at a restaurant where there's a bar or something like that.
I actually work for a major bank that finances real estate properties. So, our businesses may not be directly related. Are you on the single family side or the commercial side?

Thanks JanNov s2K:
What do you do at BMW? My other car is an e30 3 series that I've had for about 17 years! I think between the e30 and the s2K, I have the best of both worlds
Is Landry's a sports bar?

Landry's is a seafood house and bar as well... good choice for some excellent seafood, or you could go to Papa Deaux right across the freeway. There are some decent restaurants in your area, so I doubt you'll have a hard time finding somewhere to relax and enjoy food and drinks. Outback is right next to Landry's if steak is your game. The Pyramid has a decent restaurant inside it as well. If you have any questions when you get into town feel free to hit me up... (505) 720-9172. Enjoy your stay...
I'm actually on the residential real estate side, but I would love to move into commercial at some point... lord knows the commission is much bigger over there.

Hey Guys,
Just got back from my business trip to Albuquerque. Managed to finish my property inspection by mid afternoon and took the property manager's advise and took the "world's longest aerial tramway" up to Sandia Peak. Its absolutely beautiful up there.
There's also a new casino there on the NE side of the town where I was. Stopped by but it wasn't that great. But, I still think Alb is cool and wouldn't mind living there with the S2K. The roads are much wider and smoother than what we have here and you get to drive it year round.
Anyway, thanks again for your suggestions. If I get to go again (and get to stay longer than one day), let's go out for a beer or two.
Cheers,
-Mike

Glad to hear it... it sometimes can truly be the land of enchantment. The casino you're talking about is probably Sandia Casino... it's not too bad, but their new golf course is what I'm looking forward to. Keep in touch though.... a beer or two is always appreciated. Take care...
