Help before the Heat hits...
Hey everyone-
At the end of last summer my air conditioner suddenly stopped working. I went to turn it on and the compressor never kicked on, but the fan worked blowing only HOT air out the vents.
I assume it's the compressor???
So, sny input from anyone who has dealt with something similar or knows of a cheaper solution than taking to the stealership, would be greatly appreciated! (FYI- I'm not interested in removing it for weight savings, taking off my hardtop, or just rolling down my windows. I just NEED COLD AIR before the weather heats up!)
Thanks in advance,
Rick

I just went through this. I had to have the AC recharged due to the two points where you charge the system were loose.
You could have a leak in the line, something came loose anywhere in the system.
Worse case scenario, you need a whole new compressor. i doubt it, but you never know.
I took it to a shop and back three times, and I kept loosing my A/C. Had to bite the bullet and go to the dealership for it to be recharged.
It was around 150 at Garcia Honda. Some shops that can do it still cost around 80 to 100. Honda actually checked over everything. Other shops will only charge the system, unless you pay the labor.

I agree with jeff, when the system has little to no freon in it the magnetic clutch does not engage for the compressor to turn on. You don't have to go to the dealership to charge your system. Go to a auto parts store and pick up a can or two of 134a with some dye and fill it up yourself. You want the dye because if there is a leak you can see where it's coming from with an ultraviolet light.

I wouldn't ever sell mine for a CR. It has been with me since it was brand new. I love mine too much to ever get rid of it. (especially for another s2k - that's like cheating) LOL!
I am getting a corner balance soon and am hoping to get some more weight gone, that's why I am getting rid of my A/C, and some other odds and ends.
