Has anyone tried to do their own clear bra install? From the forums there are some people that have been successful and some that havent. I priced a couple shops here in town and I looking at about 500 bucks for the front bumper mirrors fenders and hood.

I have the 3m clear bra on my car it looks very well when it clean but when it's dirty it's a whole different story.. But I say if you have the money to do it I say do it, it saves the bumper, fenders, hood and mirrors from rock chips big time.

How long have you had it on? Any discoloration?

It's been on the car since new or atleast that's what the previous owner told me. No discoloration what so ever and mine is a MY02, the only problem is when the car gets dirty the edges of the bra stand out and everyone Always asks where did you get that big scratch from. But it's only the bra lol.

I'd recommend giving Speed-Armor (Stephen Bauer) a call about clear bras. Tell him Jake Dawson recommended you and maybe that'll be worth a couple of bucks. Or maybe he'll add a few $$ to the price, haha. Good guy to work with for this type of stuff.

I got mine done at The Tint & Trim factory; they did a really good job. If I remember correctly they did the front bumper, a good portion of the hood, some of the front fenders, both side mirrors, and also tinted the two side windows and back window, all for a little over $500 if I remember correctly.

They use 3m products and custom cut the film on the car. I've also had them tint my other vehicle and the windows at my business, and i've never had any complaints.

EDIT: btw, I've heard more bad things than good about getting the headlights covered. ymmv.

What type of bad stuff? Distortion? I guess if worse comes to worst I could always just peal it off the headlights. I cant really picture why people wouldn't like it.
One of my buddies had issues with his '06 STi, when the headlight covers were installed. They would start out nice and clear and then get cloudy within a couple of days.

It took a few tries to get it right and Stephen even let me help with one of the installs after I had dynoed my car in the adjacent shop. He jokingly blamed me for causing the cloudiness during after attempt. All of the other cars I've seen that he has done, including a bunch of 911 Turbos, GT3s, etc. have turned out crystal clear on the first try. If mine weren't already pitted from daily driving, I'd consider having mine covered.
