+1 has zero interest in camping. Kinda sad, really.

No one likes it. It is just a cheap way to get away from the house and drink beer all night.

Well, I just like being with friends, and being somewhere different. When you don't have gadgetry and other distractions, and perhaps a better view and some hiking, it's a fun no-frills getaway.

But yeah, if you have a nice yard with a good view and easy campfires, and friends that show up readily, then there's definitely less reason for camping. But usually I like being somewhere different for a change and not having other people around.

Oddly enough, I've never really mixed drinking with camping.

I actually did almost all of my camping in my pre-drinking days. And I still liked it.

My wife has never been camping, and never plans to. She repeats the cliche statement that "She works too hard to pretend she's homeless on her own time."

Oh. Well, in that case, it's a way to commit suicide and still be alive.
