weird - you bought an oem wheel that didn't match and now the repaired wheel didn't match and they use oem colors - do the two rims match ie the oem you bought and the repaired rim?
if so
maybe the dealer did do something to your rims -
it would be highly unlikely that two different wheels match and still not match yours

The one I bought has a lighter tone than the original wheel and the refinished
one is darker.

Mark, if they dont get an exact match the second time around. Just take off your other one from that side and have them do it. That way the 2 on one side will match. I dont know anyone that can see both sides of the car at the same time. So therefore no one would ever notice anyhow if one side is slightly different from the other.
guaranteed me that the refinished wheel would be an exact match to my others.

Wow sorry to hear about that. I got a AP2 V1 rim done at rim pro and it was not an exact match either but close. Biggest difference was they seemed to use more clearcoat than stock, it was very smooth where you can see the stock has some texture in the areas that is not machined. Once you stepped away you could not notice much difference though so I was fairly happy with the way it came out.
Good luck and I hope the next one is up to your standards. Althought to have some piece of mind you might as well get them whole set redone so you know it will match

side by side. They weren't even close. Even 3 people at the shop agreed so it wasn't
just me. If I'm paying $160 to have this done I want them to match. My eyes would
be instantly drawn to that every time I went out to the car.

I was joking and didn't mean you were being too picky, you have to be happy with the results as you are paying for it...
So yes I hope it comes back the way you want it.

Ok so my wheel repair/refinishing saga is over.
I got the wheel back, it matches pretty well the 2nd time around.
Put the new tires on and mounted them on the car, I think I would
be the only one that could tell the difference between the front and
rear wheel so all in all I'm pretty happy with the result.
Lessons learned:
1) Don't curb a wheel and I won't have to go through this time and
expense again! That's obviously the best route.
2) If I do need to repair another wheel, give them one of the originals
to match the first time around and don't believe them when they say
they can match it based on their "OEM spec" in the computer.
3) Rim and Wheel Works is a good place to get this done especially
if you're having all 4 wheels refinished, they are pretty much guaranteed
to match then.
