Default Turkey baster clutch fluid replacement - results

This was suggested by Bass and i thought it's worth a try since the fluid is really cheap and so is a turkey baster. I used the Valvoline Synthetic since it's clear. I removed as much fluid as I could using the baster and then added new fluid and drove around for 1/2 day. Then I checked again it was not clear anymore so I figured the rest of the old fluid (which was bald) has mixed in with the new one. I repeated the process a few more times (over 2 days) and finally the fluid is 95% the same shade as new clear fluid. I guess this is good enough.

As for results, I can feel the clutch pedal move much easier now but the shifts are not any better - still notchy. This was definitely worth the little effort/time/money.

Thanks for the idea Bass! Now I need to take care of the differential & tranny fluids.

When was the last time you changed the actual tranny fluid?

That made a big difference on my car

Personally, i think honda underestimated or driving style or the more frequent need of fluid replacement. Both should be changed well before the advised scheduling

mas, did you try bleeding the clutch hydraulics to flush all that old fluid out?

mas,

Kim and I did this on our cars and the difference is significant. You may also want to try scraping the walls fo the reservoir with a brush to loosen up some fo the particles attached to it.

Bill, no I did not flush the old fluid. I just kept replacing it (sucking it out) till it was all clear (from black). This is why I used the clear oil. I know it's better to flush the oil instead of what I did but I was just experimenting and I'm happy with the results.

Dan, I did clean the walls & the cap and got rid of all the particles(where the hell did they come from?). The fluid is perfectly clean & clear now Maybe I did not notice much difference cause my car has only 28K miles on it?

The tranny & diff is next on my list but I'll need some help with that.
