dave....the HTR-Z and HTR-Z III are pretty different and the III are much more modern. I had the HTR-Zs on my GT Mustang and my GTI VR6....thats why I know they keep their models around.
I think they are a great value tire.

I say put 4 new tires on the S and sell the fronts.
Also, remember, wherever you get the new tires, be sure to check
the DOT code! Pay particular attention to the last group of numbers:
429 = made on the 42nd week of 1999
2706 = made on the 27th week of 2006
Be sure the tires you get aren't "new" 5 year old tires!

Thanks Jeff! I just went down and checked my tire over real well. I did not realize this but i am running a s23/45/17 on the front and a 245/40/17 in the rear. Of the 4 tires the fronts have 6-7/32nds both sides and the rears the drivers side has 5-6/32nds and the passenger rear has just barely the outline of the tread on the left hand inside of the tire and 5/32nds on the right side of the tire.
So with all that said it is almost stupid of me to junk the fronts with that much treadwear left. My driving style is moderate the hardest I drive the car is what we drove on Lainey's drive i was towards the rear of the group so i was somewhat spirited. On the highway I usually cruise at 70-75 and rarely exceed 85 and thats just for a passing burst.
So i think I am going to order just the rears, in the kumhos its the same manufacturer and the same type of tires directional, the only difference is the tread pattern.
This is the 712 "discontinued tire"
and this is the replacement Spt tire
My plan is that when the fronts wear down some more to go ahead and replace them at that time with new Spt's for the front.
I also will listen to yays or nays on this decision as I will order them tomorrow so i can get them on the car in time for the trip to noreaster.
I do hear you guys on the 4 my thing is i dont drive hard and my fronts are almost new and its same manufacturer , directional and almost same tread pattern for my replacements in the rear. Now if it were another manufacturer etc i would definately get all 4. But feel free to chime in opinions are good to hear.

Doesn't hurt to check, there was another thread where people were
buying "new" tires and it turned out they were like over 5 years old
and the tread would come apart suddenly and cause a crash.
