Thats another $1.60 that is spent. But everybody does it different. I just prefer to hold onto the hard earned dollar and be fair to the wait staff at the same time. I used to be a wise guy and say hey give me the extra its$1.60 in this case most people I would make this comment to would go no way! Than I would say why not and they go why am i going to just give you $1.60 or whatever the amt would be. My response well since your giving $ away I figured I would ask for my share. Never did get anyone to give me any $ though But I have gotten a few to think about it. It is funny though that they would think nothing of dropping it in the tip but to actually hand it over to someone would kill them.
I guess then I don't tip at 20%, I tip at 21.7%.

I am anal I guess because I usually just pull out my phone and use the calc to figure the exact tip to give. I just about always pay with plastic so it is easy to leave the exact tip. If I have gotten really good service, I will sometime take the tip and round it up to the next round dollar ammount. ie: if the tip calls for $7.56, I will throw $10 in there to show I was happy.

I generally consider myself a hefty tipper because I calc the tip at 20% unless therewas an issue. It only ='s a buck or two for me but can make the waitress' happy. Especially if she's hawt with a big rack j/k my wife would have my ass!!!

Bill,

I don't think 10% was a bad idea. I would have tipped the same, but would have either told the waitress or the manager about the low level of service.
