Last night, I let a guy at the office drive my car to give me his impressions of my clutch. He was somewhat hard on the clutch and the car. I encouraged him to rev away, but he missed 4 and went to 2 in vtec. close to redline but thankfully not.
Anyway, my car has had a very audible tick since I got it. It'll be a year old soon. While driving home the tick wasn't there. The engine still sounds as ticky in idle, but the acceleration and cruising ticking has all but vanished. Drove around all day today on errands and still the same. I have done my fair share of high revs over the past year, but was never that rough on the clutch.
the predominant sound from the car is now the exchaust (stock) which sounds good to me. This is the way I expected this car to sound from day one. The 3 places I took it couldn't find any tick problem (including a dealer who had the car all day), but the car sounds COMPLETELY different now.
Wondering if something was wrong with the clutch contact or something (I'm a bit "mechanically challenged").
This is too bizarre. Thoughts are appreciated.

I think without having heard the ticking noise in the first place, it will be hard for anyone to determine what might have been causing the tick, and why it may have gone away by downshifting to 2nd while still under the red line, since this is not an unusual thing to do.
