Lake George sept starts the off season so prices are really cheap but it's still warm and really nice just the lake starts to get cold if u love to swim but most hotels have a pool. They also do a huge car show one weekend in sept, not sure if ur into cars lol. But they have great food, fun stiff to do and great roads to drive and it's not that far. I enjoyed staying at surfside by sea great location and price

You could always go a lil further to Lake Placid it's a wonderful little town with lots to see.

Lainey, if you want to do outdoor things, try Arcadia National Park. I'd go in August rather than September.
September on the Cape is a favorite for a lot of people. I love fishing in September. Also, in September you can probably get a reasonably priced ferry ride for the S2000 over to the Vineyard. That would be a great destination after labor day
Washington, DC is actually pretty fun for adults that like to learn more about this country. I can easily spend days walking to the monuments, memorials, museums and government offices. But you have to like that sort of thing. You could also visit with some of the vintage people while you are down there.

I'd love to spend some time in DC at some point, but it's not R &R, kind of trip, maybe someday when we have more time.
Got to do some research, but right now I'm leaning towards five days in Canada in August. We never mind driving north and enjoyed our trip there last year. Maybe somewhere else for a few days in mid Sept, but too soon to make too many plans.

i know some of us are pretty jaded to newport, but if you havnt really spent a day in newport, its an excellent day trip. buy a mansion ticket, do a tour there, take the S down the ocean drive, walk around the shops, excellent food choices and some nice knickknack shopping, scenery is excellent, you can checkout the old haunted horse stable on ocean drive, theres also a cliffwalk.
im not sure where your from though, you might have been to newport 100 times already like me haha
