Default Tags and registation help

I bought my S from a guy in MA and he delivered it to me in PA though I am moving to MA this Saturday.

I don't want to pay for all the PA junk then pay for most of it all over again a few days later in Ma.

The problem is PA won't give me transit tags for a car titled out of state. So I have no tags legally for the car.

Is there anyway to get tags for this sent to me in PA so I can drive it to my new home Saturday? Can anyone help me on this?

I have insurance already through AAA, I just need to register and get tags. I will probably have to wait though since I need to add a lien holder to my title.

I forgot about that!!!

This stinks! That means I need to drive this car 7hrs to mass without it being registered to me in either state.

I guess I will call AAA again tomorrow and see if they can do anything more. More input is appreciated also.

Thanks for the help Bass.

PS. I am looking forward to meeting other S owners. I don't know anyone else who ones a S personally.

Don't they give out temp plates in MA? In CT you need insurance, title and bill of sale and you are all set for temp plates. Ask about temp plates in MA.

No temps in MA. The best thing to do is go the route Steve is going to help you with. If you get popped with no reg your car is totally getting towed away.

Your going to have to get insurance for your cars in MA. You can't just transfer you PA insurance into MA.

I got Mass insurance already. So the car is insured at our new address.

I just need tags and reg

edit: with a mass insurance company. I had to change insurance because my existing company didn't write policies there.

Oh that's good. Yeah a lot of companies don't write policies here. The state sets the rates... every company has the same rats its so stupid...

I would call your agent and see if they can do it for you.

The only alternative is to just register the car in PA, keep the same insurance and all. Then move to MA, wait 6 months and register here. After 6 months (from the date of purchase of the car), you can register here without paying tax. That's what I had to do when I moved from NJ. This is not the best option but still much much better than not registering the car anywhere.

Good luck!

Well, we got another way. You guys see any problem with me towing it there?

I don't need to drive the vehicle to get it registered and get a plate do I?
