ok so about 3 months ago I got one of those teaser deals in the mail for Automobile magazine.
12 issues plus some other crap with paid subscription for $10.00.

sure WTF, wife throws in a check for $10.00 and tosses it in the mail.

so today I get a letter from them saying they can't process order because the check bounced and to send another check or money order.
I instantly spaz at the thought of a ten dollar check bouncing.
My first thought is, 'my god somebody hacked the account'. because the +1 manages that account to the cent and trust me, in 28 years no checks have bounced.

I go to the bank to check the account out and nope everything is fine, no bouncy-bouncy.
I come home and check last months records and sure enough there is the cleared check in the statement on 6/23/08.
Of course you don't get cancelled checks back from the banks anymore. So now if have to go back to the bank to get a copy of the check to mail to F'ing A-holes because their to stupid to process a $10.00 check.

It's ten stupid bucks so it's almost not worth the effort other than these guys have totally pissed me off.
I may make just send me the money back and screw the stupid magazine.

I hate incompetence......

 

Jerry, if you log into the bank account online, you can d/l an image of the cashed check. Save it and email it to them. Shoudl save you some effort.

 

+1 refuses to set up online access. She's paranoid about account security.
a bunch of her co-workers have had their accounts hacked.

and since she manages it and deals with making sure all the bills get paid, on time, I won't argue 'cuz she might give me the job back.

 

You should check her closet to see how many Jimmy Choo's she's got w/o you knowing

Sometimes the screwing around to get a purchase straightened out can be so much hassle it takes away 1/2 the fun of the new item...

 

got them on the phone and she explained that "they have to update their system today and close accounts then I can send in a another check "

"NOOOOO" you don't understand the check DIDN'T bounce.

ok ok then call back Monday and tell them that the check cleared and you won't have to send another check......

 

 

I hope you REALLY enjoy that magazine subscription cuz you are going to think about this PITA every month it comes in the mail.

 

Um...are you sure this is a legit company you mailed in to? The scam alarm is blaring at me right now...

How many people do you think they try pulling this stunt with and how many people don't pay enough attention and just send another check?

 

no they are real, big web site,etc.
just incompetent twits.

I have to laugh though as yesterday I got an offer for motorcyclist for 12 issues for $7.00.
for all of my aggravation maybe I'll convince them they have to give me this as compensation.
