Almost every new car gets heavier and faster than the one it replaces. It seems like there is a competiton between manufacturers to see how fast they can make their tubs go. Heaven forbid they just make the cars lighter and get more performance out of the same power plant. At the end of the day, today's cars are using way more gas than you need to drive yourself to work.
