Default So much for car euphoria in 2008

Few months ago I was really excited to see the new promising models that are coming out in 2008, including the M3, GT-R, IS-F, Evo X, etc

You maybe correct Ben. To me it looks like they keep adding comfort and luxury items irrespective of the effect the weight has. Just give it more hp to make it go.

Plan was to get the IS-F or GT-R as a daily driver, and then get a used '02/'03 S (9K RPM, baby!). By the way things look, neither IS-F nor GT-R are fun enough to be even daily driver, so F'em. I'll have to continue to use the BS for double duty.

Marc, btw, I was like "this" close to trading in my '00 S for an '05 silverstone w/ black/red int. But the BS won out at the end.

Ben take heart,
my wifes s430 tips the scales at 4130 lbs. ( probably more like 4400 with the 4-matic)

while no one would refer to it as toss-able, it was actually a lot of fun on the side roads of the blue ridge parkway, for me as the driver anyway

a lot of it has to do with the ever changing safety laws (more airbags) and more passenger protection in the form of crumble zones and other crap.

Keep in mind that the Skyline and Evo are AWD which adds 250-500 lbs to the equation...all of the sudden they are not so heavy.

There is no excuse for the IS-F to be a pig......

Ben.....what does the AL content on these cars look like? Do they weigh that much with lots of AL use?

Don't know too much about AL use yet. Don't think those info are avail yet.

Only thing known about AL is that they all have AL engines. The M3 V8 is suppose to be slightly lighter than the I6 it replaced despite the increased displacement. So WTF did it gain that much weight? The mitshu also gone the way of AL engine also.
