So many bail outs.

So many bail outs.
Sorry for the title, but so many owners are selling their cars for something else. What's up with that? I still think the car is awesome. Financial difficulties or reprioritizing your finances is one thing, but why are so many folks selling for other cars??? Ben, what's up with that?

I look at it this way....
The S2000 is an enthusiast car. Enthusiasts want to own lots awesome cars and often keep a car 2 year or less to get the next one.
I'd love to own an Evo of a few months (just to try!), I'm also looking at the next upgrade all the time, luckly that S4 or M3 I'm after is just a bit more than I want to spend. I just can't see myself spenting more than 30,000 for an automobile.

We'd have to "find" a lot of money to even think of upgrading the "S". We'll be hanging around here for a long time to come.

when I bought the S I wrestled with automobile vs motorcycle.
age being what it is I went with the auto.
I think I found what to replace the toy with.
something between an automobile and a motorcycle.
think motorcar.

ok I wouldn't really replace the S2000 but wouldn't it be fun to add one to the stable.
of course, I wonder how many times you'd get stopped just "because...."

I would trade out of the S if I could upgrade and if I had a job to finance an upgrade. It would definitely be for another sports car though or maybe to gain a little more practicality. Here are some cars I would trade out for:
Audi S4
BMW M3
Porsche Boxster S
Porsche Cayman S
Corvette C6
As you can see it's a short list. Mostly because all other cars I would trade the S for are WAY more expensive than the ones on the list.

When I first started looking before I bought my S I was looking for a 'fun' convertible. I test drove a few and found the S without really knowing much about it. When I took it for a test drive I KNEW I had to have one. I had a motorcycle at the time and figured I would be giving it up and the S was the closest thing to riding a bike as I had ever come across in a car.
I plan to hang onto mine for many years. I am not the hardcore car enthusiast many others are so I am not being lured by other high priced options out there. Sure, I wouldnt mind owning some of the nicer cars out there but my S will be paid for soon and I hope to get many years of enjoyment from it.
Love the top down days, love the performance, love the S period.

Ive looked at other comparable vehicles out there, both about the same and a little more $ than the S.
Ive come to the conclusion that you'd have to be either nuts or maybe in a real financial bind to sell your S
Like so many auto mags have said, its the best bang for the buck so to speak
My S isnt going anywhere (unless of course i find a nice clean AP2 in red) and besides, its been paid off for awhile. I love not having car payments!
