So I got the car back today, all replaced. They did the pressure plate, disc and throwout bearing - plus an oil change. Total (with an oil change) was $1036.
On a happier note, my car's clutch hasn't felt this nice - even when it was new!
Robb,
This fixed my stiff-clutch issue. You could press my clutch with a piece of paper now.

Anyone have any idea of what could have been happening? The symptom was that my clutch pedal was very stiff to push in (felt like there was a heavy spring attached to the pedal).

Hey Justin.
Give it a little time to break in. The clutch - however it feels now - could feel very differently couple hundred miles later. Even engagement point could change. These happen even after a clutch fluid flush, much less a full clutch replacement. So...just wait a little and see. If you still don't like the engagement point then, there's play in it.
