So I need a new clutch...
Looks like I need a new clutch. Had an incident a couple nights ago where the clutch simply would not fully engage. Seems like it burnt pretty bad and I had to wait some time for it to cool before I could get it to engage again (no, I was not launching).
I was on a hill (stop sign) and did not want to roll back. I had the rpms at about 4500-5000 and was letting the clutch out slowly (yea, I know!) and that was the end of it.
Anyway, I am in limp-mode for the next week until the dealership can get my car in and tear it apart. I spoke with them over the phone and it doesn't sound good about getting it fixed under warranty (I have just over 15k miles on the car).
Anyone have any ideas on how much this is going to hurt my wallet?
Thanks,

I wouldn't worry about it yet .See if it breaks back in .I have a 01 w/27000 miles and have smoked the clutch on many occasions. I auto-x my S very hard last weekend and took the fastest lap times with no problems.
So give it a little time I'm sure everything will be fine. Everyone jumps the gun when they smell a little clutch. Be easy with her for a week or so.

that's all I have to say about that
Maybe I am better off buying an aftermarket clutch and taking it somewhere other than the dealer? I found a ACT Clutch Kit for $493 + shipping... labor can't be $1000 on a clutch replacement can it?!

Justin...try what Scott, (Twiztid), said...drive it easy for a while and see if she comes back into it. Scott really knows his stuff and he doesn't post unless he knows what he's talking about. If indeed it really is toast then buy the ACT clutch and let's just do it ourselves. It's so doable!!!!!
