My sis just sold a truck through Craig's list. Bass was too late.

A not about CL, if you're going to post, put in something like:

PRICE IS FIRM
LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
ABSOLUTELY NO TRADES

At the top and bottom of your post. My biggest gripe is that when I sold my last car I kept getting stuff from people like "I'll trade you my civic HB" or "I have a stereo and XBox and x dollars". I must have gotten about 5 or 6 trade requests until I modified my post. You will get at least 1 nigerian scam e-mail and at least 2 people offering to pay more than you are asking by using a holding company. I did all mine through e-mail and just deleted the ones that even looked remote suspect.

Overall pretty good experiences with CL.

I tried autotrader twice and got nowhere. I wouldn't recommend it.

Craigslist would be my first choice. The price is right and attacts a local crowd. I would be wary of scammers. Cars.com and Autotrader.com work good too, but will cost and many dealers will call you trying to scam you at wholesale.

The two most important factors in posting the ad are the pictures (plenty of them and well taken) and an attractive sales price.

Many times what you a seller thinks a cars worth and what buyers are paying can be at odds.

speaking of which - it's best to use a link from photobucket so you can post BIG pictures rather than the standard CL upload

My personal opinion is that AT targets a different audience than CL. As a potential s2K buyer. I get my daily "tyre kicking fix" by scanning Autotrader when time permits.
