s2000 unusual Car Problems
I have a 00' and as of the last couple of months my car would shut off out of no where. let me explain some of the details, going around 50mph in the highway the car completely shut off and it would not turn back on. It had done it before but it would allowed me to turn it back on immediately becuase it would just bog. This time it was different, the entire gauge cluster would be completely shut off. the power windows, the emergency signals, stereo, headlights everything would turn on while the key was turn on. But the gauge cluster, speedometer, check engine light etc would not turn on, the fuel pump works, i've tested the alternator, bought a new battery, tested the ECU and everything seems fine, check the fuses on the fuse box under the hood and on the driver side and nothing is out of the ordinary, but i cant get the car to turn on. For the past 2 months it had been doing that but after a few minutes it would turn back on, but after last night the car wont turn on at all, i cant seem to know whats wrong with it and none of my friends can figure it out. Someone mention something about the pig tail but i wanted to know if you have ever heard of such problem and if you have any idea what it is or how can i fix it. Please advice. Thank you for your time

P.s. Someone mention Scott Twizted would be able to help, I could use his or anyone's suggestion.[U]

I have an 01 ECU available if you need it but as Bass mentioned it should be covered by warranty.

Hmmm ,
Hard to diagnose online . You already have done what I would have suggested to start with .
New battery - Covered
Alt check , did you just check the voltage or did you load test it ?? Voltage really means nothing if there is no load on it .
Next is to clean up the grounds . Battery to Body is one . There is one on the back of the head . And two others on the drivers underside of the motor .
You also want to check that all the crank and cam sensors are plugged in securely .
As far as the alarm , most are just starter kills , not ignition kill unless you asked for it specifically to kill the ignition .
Also when the problem initially started 2 months ago did you have any work done to the car ?
