Default Relocating from Seattle to S. CT need help

Hey all, I am in the process of relocating from Seattle, WA back to the east coast (originally from Westchester) and am looking at a couple places, but could use some advice.

South Norwalk (SoNo)
Stamford

Any other areas i should be looking at? or consider?

as possible locations. I need to be close to New Haven line & looking at renting until I sell my house out here and figured this would be a good place to ask about what are good neighborhoods (I'm in my early 30's) still single and what the scene is like.

Any and all help etc.. you can lend would be great. I'm looking forward to it and planning to do many track days at Watkins/Limerock/NHMS.

TIA.

David.

Welcome, you may aslo consider towns like Trumbull, Shelton, Fairfield under a resonable price. Sono can get expensive and so is Stamford.

Thanks any local resources I should be looking into? i.e housing/neighborhoods/local scene?

Kinda weird to be "starting" over @ 33 in a new town, but looking forward to being back east!

TIA and hopefully meet up with everyone whenever the gtg's are.

I'm sure you can find info online, just remember that the closer you get to the nyc, the more expensive it gets, you may also look into Milford, Orange, nice towns as well and resonable. btw, all these towns are withing 20 minutes of driving to New Haven so would work out great for you.

I live in Trumbull. SoNo and Stamford are about a good 30+ mins away from New Haven. Milford and Orange are much closer.
Anything in Fairfield county is very expensive.
SoNo and Milford both have some cool bars /nightlife.

One thing that you need to understand about the Fairfield County area is that it gets progressively expensive as you go from New Haven towards NYC. If you plan to commute on MetroNorth/ New Haven Line, then YOU MUST LOOK INTO PARKING NOW! If you can't find a place close to the RR station and you need a car to get to the station, plan on paying for day parking and very early arrivals or getting in line to get a parking permit in the town you plan to live in. SoNO and Stamford are great in that there is more rental properties near the RR stations so parking is not as important. PM me if you have specific questions. Best of luck! Hiro

Hey David can you be more specific to what your coming back here for?

1) Like what you are moving back here for? Work?
2) What is the location of your work?
3) How much your willing to spend on a rental?
4) What do you consider nightlife?

As stated above if you want proximity to the metro north train line then from New Haven to Greenwich to NYC I would consider - New Haven, Milford, Stratford, Fairfield, Westport, South Norwalk, Stamford, Greenwich in order from cheapest to most expensive.

Traffic in Fairfield County is a biotch (Fairfield, Westport, South Norwalk, Stamford, Greenwich) to commute in.

Order of Nightlife from best to good - South Norwalk, New Haven, Stamford, & Milford. The other towns mentioned above are basically sleeping towns.

Be more specific since there are a few of us that grew up in CT and can really give you the low down on CT.

Welcome - George!

hopefully you are short or have an aftermarket roll bar

SoNo is a great place.. good night life, right by the ocean.. but as mentioned already several times, towns in this area are expensive to live in. If you were to move further north or east, you could cut down on cost significantly.
