FTR, I know how obsessive some folks are about their vehicles, and I do understand that. No one likes to have their property damaged by someone who is simply careless.
I hate door dings too. BUT if we park our S in a parking lot, we know we increase the odds of getting a door ding. While we ARE picky about where we park, if we only take the S out to places where we are guaranteed not to get a door ding, we'd never go anywhere.

BUT, we've done the roads of VT several times, and it was time for a change.
However, we did have pulled pork once in ME and once in NH, it was just OK, no where near as good as the one in Killington!

Parking Criteria
1. I don't park next to 2 door cars. Their doors are longer.....
2. Avoid Wagons and Minivans---kids are sometimes careless opening the door, door need to opened wide for baby seats etc.
3. Avoind parking next to Sh1t boxes.....they don't care about their car...they are not caring about mine.
4. I used to avoid the shopping cart holder in the parking lot, but my new theory is that people will use the holder if they are close to it, therefore, less random carts around my car.

Yeah, we got too close to a parking cart return thing....and ended up with a new ding.
Now we either park a good distance away, and also try for those end spots as well.

Same here...far away, end spot and uphill from the natural progression
of runaway shopping carts. If you have to park downhill, make sure
there is an island that would impede the progress of said carts.
