Parking at an angle in a parking lot
#11
I always look for a spot at the edge of the parking lot and park my car as close to the edge as possible so that way you limit your exposure by 50%.

ok the part that Lainey left out is he was parked as far from the entrance as he could get in a very large lot and the lot was half empty.
I agree if your parked sideways a third of the way up the line, you deserve a dope slap up side of your head. your being an a$$ an imposing your need to preserve your car at everyone else's expense.
If on the other hand you go way out of your way to distance yourself from the fray you're not inconveniencing anyone. Other than suggesting someone is a little anal retentive no additional grief is warranted.
In this particular case the cop was just being a classic 'see I can F' with you, prick"

I agree with Jeff, that is asking for trouble. If the car is at an angle, even if there are plenty of available space, all it does is call more attention to the car you don't want anyone to bother....
Maybe the cop was over reacting, and it sounds as if the ticket may not hold up in court, but I'll still take my chances and just hope for the best by selecting a space near the end.

Yeah, I'm fine with parking on the far end of the lot, or snug up against an end space for more of a buffer. But to take up more than one spot really irritates me. I have a basic problem with someone making their own decision that the rules suddenly do not apply to them. Granted, parking lot lines are social rules and not ones that carry much, if any, punishment, but they're meant to make access convenient for everyone. Someone taking up more than one spot is saying "I don't need to follow this rule" while the rest of you do.
It's like cutting in front of someone in line. It's not against the law (nor should it be) but you're nothing short of an @sshole if that's the way you go about your life.

well, I don't think it would hold up in Fall river.
There are different laws in every state and even in cities/towns. There is nothing stopping say the Dartmouth selectmen from making an ordinance that allows for fining someone for parking like an asshat.
Funny that this topic is here today. While not quite a crooked car, I saw this an hour ago at Walmart in Dartmouth
I almost ran it over when I pulled into the spot becaus eI couldnt see it right away.

Lainey! I'm in the library in woodstock (VT) .
Nice to see you!
You HAVE to make a detour to our neck of the woods on your next trip to RI. Maybe we can go have a mushroom burger somewhere! Burger won't be optional.
